Clinics and Hospitals

Healthcare services in Lithuania are provided by both state and private clinics and hospitals. Regardless of whether you are covered by compulsory health insurance (PSD), you can seek care at any healthcare institution in Lithuania. However, if you are not covered by PSD, you will need to pay for all medical services out of pocket. Foreigners can also access free healthcare services in Lithuania if they are covered by PSD.

Public clinics in Lithuania

Public healthcare facilities are part of Lithuania's national healthcare system. If you are covered by PSD, the health insurance fund will cover your treatment, except for certain services that are not reimbursed. Before seeking healthcare services, check whether the medical facility has a contract with Territorial Health Insurance Funds (known as Valstybinės ligonių kasos), which services are reimbursed, and what co-payments may be required. In some state institutions, services may also be provided in foreign languages. Lithuania has numerous clinics and hospitals throughout its major cities. To find detailed information, you can access a list of hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and other locations across the country.

Private clinics in Lithuania

Private healthcare institutions in Lithuania operate under a license from the Ministry of Health and offer paid services. Prices vary, and some may offer discounts for PSD-covered individuals or have agreements with private insurance companies. English-language services are more common in private facilities. Some of the most well-known private clinics in Lithuania include  Northway, Kardiolita, Baltic American Clinic, InMedica, Endemik.
