Arrival Allowance

Are you considering a move to Lithuania for work? The Lithuanian government offers an Arrival Allowance (known as Atvykimo išmoka) to attract skilled professionals and help offset some of the costs associated with relocating from abroad. 

Who is eligible for the Arrival Allowance? 

To qualify for the Arrival Allowance, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • Residency: You must be a permanent resident of Lithuania, meaning your declared place of residence has been in Lithuania for at least 185 days in a calendar year, starting from 2022 onwards
  • Previous Residence: You must have lived abroad for at least five years before becoming a permanent resident of Lithuania
  • Occupation: Your job must be included in the list of high-value-added occupations list where there is a shortage of workers in Lithuania (Ukrainians, who fled to Lithuania, are not subject to the condition of high value-added profession) 
  • Salary: Your average monthly salary before taxes must be at least €3788.4 (equivalent to 4.1 times the minimum wage), calculated over a six-month period from the date of employment

Amount of Allowance

In 2024, the Arrival Allowance is set at €3,788.40.

How to apply?

The Relocation Allowance is administered and paid by the Employment Service. You can apply in the following ways: 

  • Through the E-Government Gateway, the administrative and public services system. 
  • For Ukrainians: Through the E-Government Gateway, upon arrival in written form, or via email [email protected] (with a qualified electronic signature). 
  • Signed original documents may be sent to Trakų g. 39, Šiauliai. 

You must apply through the Employment Service no earlier than six months (no earlier than 3 months if you are Ukrainian) and no later than two years after starting your employment in Lithuania under a permanent contract.
